What is an imagebase?
An imagebase is an image file cabinet. Obviously, you can insert, update, delete, and retrieve images. The most important feature of an imagebase is to retrieve images efficiently.
An imagebase is a set of tables. A table is a set of records. A record consists of a set of fields. A field contains data or links to images.
In Plain English: an imagebase is a screen full of buttons (table buttons). Each button represents a category (table) of images. Once you click the button of a specific category (table) of images, the details for the images (name, keywords, ...) plus the images (usually the links to the images) are available for the viewers.
Each imagebase has a name. Let "imagebase1" be the name of an imagebase, see Figure 1. This imagebase has two tables. Each table has a name. Let the names of the two tables be:
Figure 1. An imagebase, imagebase1 = {jet, tank}.
A table is a set of records. The table button, "jet", is a table in "imagebase1". Click the "jet" button in Figure 1, Figure 2 will appear. The "jet" table has 7 fields:
Jet = { ImageID, imagename, key1, key2, key3, key4, image}.The last field, "image", is the link to the images in the imagebase. The content of this field is "Package".
Figure 2. A table is a set of records.
In the above table, when you click the link in the last column, an image
will pop up. For example, if we click the link in the "Mig-29" row, you
will see Figure 3.
